Job summary

Ipsum is hiring a Quantity Surveyor to join our Newcastle team. You will develop, implement and manage all commercial activities, taking ownership of the group commercial strategy for your business unit and helping maximise profitability while upholding Ipsum values.

This is a full-time permanent role based from our Newcastle office. You will manage full project commercial cycles, including tenders, CVRs, WIP and change control, with strong knowledge of NEC, JCT and FIDIC contracts.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree; professional qualification (ICES or RICS) advantageous but not essential.
• Experience in a similar commercial role with strong knowledge of NEC, JCT and FIDIC contracts.
• Ability to manage full project commercial cycles, including tendering, CVRs, WIP, reforecasting and change control.

Responsibilities

• Manage contract/project performance including CVR reviews.
• Review contracts and support with mitigating risk.
• Report on and challenge performance for project cashflows and profitability.
• Subcontractor management.
• Preparation and review of subcontract documents and assessment of quotations for onboarding.
• Manage and track project changes, variations and/or notices.
• Assess and value variations and compensation events.
• Support the Commercial Manager with ad hoc projects and continuous improvement of business processes.
• Prepare and submit interim valuations and payment applications to clients, along with the agreement of final accounts.
• Attend risk review, progress and commercial meetings on-site with the Client.
• Be actively involved with tenders and pricing.
• Support the operational team in daily commercial and contractual aspects.
