Job summary

First Recruitment Group is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial activities on major infrastructure projects in the Newcastle area. The role focuses on contract administration, cost control and value optimisation to drive delivery and compliance.

You will provide leadership to the commercial team, manage procurement from tender through to contract award, and deliver accurate commercial reporting.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification.
• Extensive experience in quantity surveying for infrastructure projects.
• Strong NEC contract knowledge and administration.
• Experience preparing payment applications and final accounts.
• Ability to monitor costs and provide commercial reporting.
• Experience with procurement and supply chain management.
• Chartered status or working towards RICS.

Responsibilities

• Administer contracts under NEC requirements.
• Measure and value works; prepare payments.
• Monitor costs and produce cost-vs-value reports.
• Manage procurement from tender to award.
• Provide commercial leadership to project teams.
• Mentor junior commercial staff.
