Job summary

Coherent is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead the site''s purchasing function in Scotland, reporting to the Senior Materials Manager. You will drive sourcing strategies, supplier partnerships, and continuous improvement across cost, quality and service metrics.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance and Supply Chain teams to secure supply, optimize inventory, and deliver value for a global technology leader.

Qualifications

• A degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Significant experience in Purchasing, Procurement, or Supply Chain Management in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven track record of leading, developing, and motivating high-performing teams.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, material planning, production control, and supplier management.
• Experience reviewing and negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the site''s purchasing function, ensuring alignment with objectives and procurement best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement in cost, quality, supplier performance, and strategic sourcing activities.
• Oversee purchasing activities and approval processes to ensure timely procurement of materials.
• Build strong supplier relationships while supporting strategic global sourcing.
• Monitor supplier performance, contracts, delivery schedules, and terms.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, and Supply Chain to support production needs.
