Job summary

VetPlus in the United Kingdom is seeking a strategic Purchasing Manager to lead end-to-end procurement for a £15m spend across direct materials and packaging. You will collaborate with Production, Warehouse, R&D, Finance and Quality to secure best value and supply continuity.

The role requires strong negotiation, supplier management and an analytical mindset to drive year-on-year improvements in KPIs and cost efficiencies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in purchasing/procurement.
• Strong knowledge of Sage Line 200.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building and negotiation skills.
• Highly organised with brilliant time-management.
• Advanced IT skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a purchasing strategy aligned to business growth plans.
• Create an annual purchasing plan optimising direct and indirect spend.
• Build strong strategic supplier relationships to minimise risk with at least two approved suppliers per product.
• Oversee purchase order process ensuring accuracy and SOP compliance.
• Vet and set up new suppliers; negotiate pricing, terms, lead times and MOQs.
• Maintain contracts with key suppliers and ensure compliance with terms.
