Job summary

Travelers Europe is seeking a Development Underwriter for the London market. You will proactively manage submissions, quotes and binds while building strong broker partnerships and driving profitable growth across a diverse book of business.

You will apply technical property & casualty underwriting knowledge, negotiate terms, and use various platforms to quote and bind risk. Hybrid work may apply, with travel for meetings as needed.

Qualifications

• A Levels or similar qualification.
• Knowledge of products, regulatory environment and local insurance market.
• Analytical/critical thinking to underwrite, market products and assess risk.
• Strong communication to negotiate with brokers.
• Ability to work with diverse teams and cultures.

Responsibilities

• Manage profitability, growth and retention of assigned book across products.
• Underwrite and negotiate moderate risks to maximise profitability.
• Proactively manage portfolio and target new business and retention.
• Identify risk characteristics and take corrective action with Manager.
• Write additional lines of business using product knowledge and risk appetite.
• Utilise technology platforms to quote and bind risk efficiently.
• Support underwriting reviews for policies or portfolios.
