Job summary

Travelers Europe is seeking a Development Underwriter to drive new business development and nurture broker relationships across the South of England. The role involves proactive submissions, quotes and binds, and applying property & casualty underwriting knowledge to assess risk and negotiate terms.

This is a hybrid role with three days in the office and two days working from home. Travel to broker meetings is anticipated as part of building partnerships and growing a profitable book of business.

Qualifications

• A Levels or similar qualification.
• Knowledge of products, regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
• Analytical thinking with underwriting, marketing products, and risk assessment.

Responsibilities

• Manage profitability, growth and retention of an assigned book of business across our products.
• Underwrite and negotiate moderate risks to maximise profitability.
• Proactively manage portfolio and target new business and retention.
• Identify and capture opportunities to write additional lines of business.
• Cultivate and maintain broker relationships by phone, email or other channels.
• Travel to meetings and support renewal efforts.
• Coach less experienced underwriters and support junior team members.
