Job summary

Kao Data invites a strategically minded and technically credible leader to direct power strategy across development and operations for its AI-focused data centres in the UK. You will drive scalable power solutions, manage grid connections, and oversee alternative power options while shaping customer propositions and executive decisions.

This senior role demands deep knowledge of UK electricity markets, strong commercial acumen and exceptional stakeholder management to deliver aligned energy

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or related field; advanced qualifications desirable.
• Proven experience delivering power strategy, grid connections and energy infrastructure projects in data centres, utilities or major infrastructure developments.
• Deep knowledge of UK electricity markets, grid connection processes, regulatory frameworks and connection reform.

Responsibilities

• Lead power strategy across development, customer growth and operational energy management.
• Engage with DNOs, IDNOs, NESO, National Grid and policy stakeholders on grid connections and energy policy.
• Evaluate alternative power solutions (private wire, renewables, energy-from-waste, batteries) with cost, ESG impact and risk.
• Oversee energy procurement, billing governance and cost recovery in collaboration with Finance and Operations.
• Develop power-related business cases and assist sales with transactions where power is a key value driver.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and translate technical issues into executive-level recommendations.
