Job summary

Kao Data is seeking a Senior Design Manager to lead in‑house design across AI data centre projects in the UK. You will steer multi‑discipline teams through early conception to delivery, ensuring design integrity, budgets and schedules align with business goals.

You will collaborate with operations, vendors and consultants, champion design standards and risk management, and support commissioning and handover to ensure seamless project outcomes for our data centre campuses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject (mechanical, electrical or building services engineering).
• CEng/PE or ATD certification desirable.
• Extensive data centre design/engineering experience in a core discipline.
• Demonstrated construction industry project delivery experience.
• Extensive design/delivery of multi‑MW data centre engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design team to deliver an accurate and detailed design package.
• Collaborate with operations to understand and support lifecycle projects and incidents.
• Manage external consultants and contractors to meet Kao Data requirements.
• Review design progress and manage design change to stay on budget and schedule.
• Provide technical feedback and challenge to ensure high-quality deliverables.
