Job summary

Wiltshire Police is seeking a Strategic Performance Analyst to support evidence-based decision making, strategic oversight and organisational improvement. You will work with senior leaders to provide independent analytical insight that informs decisions and strengthens scrutiny.

The role focuses on leading the collection and interpretation of strategic performance data, developing dashboards and briefing materials, and identifying trends and risks to inform action.

Qualifications

  • Experience analysing performance, risk or improvement activity.
  • Experience producing reports, dashboards, briefings for senior audiences.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively.
  • Confidence in presenting evidence and influencing decision making.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience demonstrating substantial analytical capability.

Are you an experienced analyst who enjoys working well with others and turns complex information into meaningful insight?

Wiltshire and Swindon Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) is seeking a Strategic Performance Analyst to play a key role in supporting evidence-based decision making, strategic oversight and organisational improvement.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our newly transformed Strategy, Performance and Oversight team and help shape how performance, risk and improvement are understood across the organisation. Working closely with senior leaders, you will provide independent analytical insight that informs strategic decision making, strengthens scrutiny and supports continuous improvement.

What you'll be doing

As our Strategic Performance Analyst, you will:

  • Lead the collection, analysis and interpretation of strategic performance information.
  • Develop dashboards, reports and briefings that provide clear and actionable insight.
  • Identify trends, risks, opportunities and emerging issues, helping leaders understand what they mean and where action is needed.
  • Evaluate the impact of improvement and change activity.
  • Maintain and support strategic risk reporting and assurance processes.
  • Provide professional challenge and evidence-based recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Help strengthen organisational oversight, governance and accountability.

This is a role for someone who enjoys asking questions, exploring evidence and helping organisations improve through better understanding of performance and outcomes.

About you

We're looking for someone who can combine strong analytical capability with excellent communication and influencing skills.

You will have:

  • Experience analysing performance, risk or improvement activity.
  • Experience producing reports, dashboards, briefings and analytical products for senior audiences using analytical and reporting tools and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • The ability to communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively.
  • Confidence in presenting evidence, providing challenge and influencing decision making.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience demonstrating substantial analytical capability.

Knowledge of risk, assurance or public-sector accountability frameworks, would be advantageous.
