Job summary

TotalMec Estimating Services in the United Kingdom is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to join our team. You will perform site visits, produce layouts, and liaise with clients to capture their requirements for mechanical installations.

You will also manage enquiries, prepare cost estimates, compile tender submissions with competitive pricing, and identify value engineering opportunities. Negotiating with suppliers and coordinating with project managers are key aspects of the role.

Qualifications

• Experience in an estimating role within the mechanical contracting sector.
• Confident in reading drawings, preparing take-offs, and producing accurate costings.
• Able to communicate clearly with clients, colleagues and supply chain partners.
• Skilled at negotiating with suppliers/subcontractors to achieve best value.
• Organised, detail-focused, and able to balance multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out site visits when required, producing layouts, and liaising directly with clients to understand their needs.
• Managing incoming enquiries, producing accurate take-offs, and preparing cost estimates for a variety of mechanical installations.
• Compiling tender submissions with precise and competitive pricing.
• Identifying opportunities for value engineering and suggesting cost-effective alternatives without compromising on quality.
• Working closely with project managers to build strong, competitive bids.
• Sourcing supplier and subcontractor quotations, and negotiating to secure the best terms.
