Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a highly motivated Management Accountant to join our Finance Team. Based at Commonwealth House, you will provide expert financial advice, lead on planning and budgeting, and deliver timely reports to support senior managers and clinical services.

You will bring CCAB-qualified expertise, extensive experience in large organisations, and strong analytical and communication skills to influence decisions and drive financial performance across services.

Qualifications

• Professional accountancy qualification from a recognised CCAB body or equivalent knowledge and expertise.
• Significant experience within a large and complex organisation, including substantial experience in a senior management accounting role.
• In-depth knowledge of financial management, budgetary control processes and financial reporting requirements.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information and translate it into meaningful insights.
• Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to present complex information to finance and non-finance audiences.
• Advanced IT skills, including experience of financial systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Demonstrable ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within demanding deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert financial management advice and support to budget holders and senior stakeholders
• Lead on financial planning, budget setting, monitoring and forecasting processes across designated service areas
• Produce accurate and timely financial reports, including variance analysis and performance information
• Analyse complex financial data and provide recommendations to support strategic and operational decision-making
• Support the development and evaluation of business cases, service redesigns and investment proposals
• Build strong working relationships with clinical, operational and corporate colleagues across the organisation
• Contribute to the development of financial systems, processes and governance arrangements while supporting continuous improvement initiatives
