Job summary

Dovetail and Slate seeks a Deputy Director of Teaching, Learning & Quality for its Service Industries at multiple sites in the North East. The role focuses on strategic and operational leadership to improve teaching and learning, uphold high standards, and align provision with learner, employer and community needs.

• Experience delivering high-quality teaching and learning within the FE sector.
• A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or Cert in Education).
• A degree or equivalent vocational qualification.
• Strong knowledge of teaching, learning, assessment and quality assurance in FE.
• Experience leading and developing staff teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Support strategic and operational leadership of teaching, learning and quality across the directorate.
• Drive continuous improvement in teaching, learning, assessment and curriculum delivery.
• Lead and support staff development, providing feedback and addressing performance concerns.
• Contribute to curriculum planning, innovation and programme development across vocational areas.
• Monitor learner progress, attendance, engagement, achievement and progression against targets.
• Participate in quality reviews, self-assessment, action planning and inspection readiness.
• Ensure compliance with funding requirements and education policies.
• Collaborate across sites to ensure consistent, high-quality provision.
• Support recruitment, curriculum staffing, timetabling and resource use.
• Maintain a teaching commitment equivalent to 0.5 of the role.
