Job summary

Muon Space seeks a Staff Advanced Programs Lead - EO/IR to drive strategic capture, form new space market opportunities, and lead advanced concepts across defense, government, philanthropy, and commercial missions.

You will bridge science and business development, direct customers’ mission needs, and shepherd proposals from concept to execution, shaping Muon’s technology roadmap and R&D strategy.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Physics, Remote Sensing, Earth Science, CS, Engineering or related field
• 7+ years of Earth remote sensing mission/instrument development experience
• Ability to decompose high level objectives into technical concepts and solutions
• Experience with EO/IR and related space missions across government and commercial markets
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead mission formulation contracts and drive cross-functional teams to deliver concepts
• Lead strategic capture campaigns for high-value EO/IR and optical remote sensing opportunities
• Drive multi-stage programs from formulation through design concepts and end-to-end delivery
• Lead early-stage R&D activities as Principal Investigator
• Create technical proposals, white papers, and concept studies
• Perform feasibility studies, literature reviews and trade studies
• Translate customer needs into technical requirements and solutions
• Collaborate with product, business development and engineering to identify new markets and technologies
