Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking an Associate Town Planner (Strategic Land) to lead promotion and delivery of strategic development sites across Bristol, Oxford or Exeter, with flexibility for other UK studios.

You will head strategic planning strategies from site promotion through to complex consents, working with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver commercially focused outcomes and contribute to business growth.

Qualifications

• MRTPI accreditation and at least 10 years' UK planning experience.
• Strong track record in strategic land promotion, development allocations and securing complex planning consents.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing major residential-led schemes.
• Excellent knowledge of planning policy, development management and appeals processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic site promotion, allocations and planning applications.
• Manage major, multi-phase schemes including outline and reserved matters.
• Oversee site appraisals, feasibility studies and risk assessments.
• Provide expert planning advice on policy, case law and regulatory changes.
• Support planning appeals and liaise with Counsel and advisers.
• Lead Local Plan examinations and strategic plan-making.
• Develop post-consent delivery strategies for development projects.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage programmes and budgets.
• Support bids, tenders and business development to win work.
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and stakeholders.
• Contribute to business planning and leadership of the team.
• Mentor junior colleagues and support wider practice leadership.
