Job summary

Pennon Group in Exeter is seeking a Lead Internal Communications & Engagement Manager to shape and deliver the internal communications strategy across the organisation. You will lead a high-performing team and partner with senior leaders to drive transformation and business performance.

This role combines strategic leadership with operational delivery, driving excellence in communications across a complex organisation and delivering measurable impact.

Qualifications

• Proven experience developing and delivering organisation-wide internal communications strategies, frameworks and governance models.
• Experience advising senior leaders within complex organisations.
• Demonstrable success leading communications for organisational change, transformation and business improvement initiatives.
• Significant experience designing and delivering employee engagement and listening programmes.
• Experience using survey results, colleague feedback and organisational insight to inform communication strategies and priorities.
• Experience developing communication planning frameworks, annual calendars and governance processes.
• Experience partnering with HR/People teams to deliver integrated people communications.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Experience measuring communication effectiveness and translating insight into improvements.
• Experience managing crisis and operational communications.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver a strategic internal communications framework that supports objectives.
• Develop compelling approaches with senior stakeholders to bring strategy to life.
• Lead employee listening and engagement using data to inform decisions.
• Establish governance, planning processes and standards for high-quality communications.
• Advise senior leaders on communication, engagement, transformation and change.
• Lead, coach and develop the Internal Communications team.
• Evaluate effectiveness through data and insights to improve channels and content.
