Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking an HR Consultant to develop and improve our integrated HR service. This role offers an excellent opportunity to deliver professional HR services and support business strategies within a dynamic public sector environment.

The post involves translating priorities into practical HR solutions, supporting organisational change, and providing risk-based, legally compliant HR advice to managers. Hybrid working is available with full-time hours or 0.8FTE.

• Strong knowledge of employment policies and equality legislation.

Responsibilities

• Translate Council priorities into practical HR solutions that support the organisation's strategic objectives.
• Promote and support business improvement and organisational change across various levels.
• Deliver HR services in line with agreed quality standards and manage risk appropriately when giving advice.
• Provide business-focused HR solutions using specialist HR knowledge.
• Support budget management activities linked to projects and work programmes.
• Provide day-to-day technical and professional guidance to colleagues, mentor team members, and contribute to project and programme teams.
• Deliver a professional, risk-based HR consultancy service to managers, ensuring HR advice is legally compliant and based on best practice.
• Support managers with the people aspects of organisational change initiatives and promote positive employee relations across the organisation.
• Develop, review, and implement HR and people management policies ensuring they reflect HR best practice.
