Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an experienced HR Adviser to join the Strategic HR Team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. You will contribute to a varied programme of strategic HR work, including policy development, project management, consultation, and stakeholder engagement.

The role requires independent working, strong employment law knowledge, and the ability to translate complex HR matters into practical solutions while building effective relationships with colleagues and partners.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree or professional/management qualification, or significant relevant operational experience at an equivalent level.
• Experience of providing effective HR advice across employment matters including organisational change, terms, recruitment, attendance, disciplinary, grievance, equality and pay.
• Experience developing and implementing HR policies, procedures, guidance or toolkits for managers and employees.
• Strong understanding of employment law and case law, and HR best practice.
• Ability to build relationships with partners and stakeholders and work independently on projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional HR expertise across a varied portfolio of work.
• Contribute to HR policy development and strategic project management.
• Lead consultation, trade union and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Support delivery of the People Strategy and respond to employment law changes.
• Translate complex HR issues into clear, practical solutions and guide managers.
