Job summary

East Midlands Councils is seeking a Finance Business Partner to provide high-quality financial advice, insight, and challenge across Children’s and Place services. You’ll support strategic decision‑making and help deliver the Council’s medium‑term financial strategy.

You will lead budget setting, monitoring, and financial planning, delivering clear analysis to inform decisions and drive value for money. Local government experience is desirable for this role.

Qualifications

• CCAB qualified (or equivalent) with substantial experience.
• Strong background in financial planning, budgeting, and business partnering.
• Experience working in a complex organisation and managing competing priorities.
• Desirable: Local government finance experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and service leaders.
• Lead on budget setting, monitoring, and financial planning.
• Provide clear analysis and insight to support decision‑making.
• Challenge and influence to ensure value for money and effective use of resources.
• Support development of financial strategies, business cases, and service improvements.
• Monitor performance and drive continuous improvement in financial processes.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and statutory requirements.
