Job summary

Octopus Energy Group is expanding its OEGen team and seeks a Strategic Finance Associate to manage monthly management accounts, support strategic initiatives, and liaise with global subsidiaries. The role focuses on cash flow analysis, budgeting, and capital allocation across regulated and non-regulated entities.

You will collaborate with department heads and external asset managers, contributing to Board packs and financial presentations while driving improvements in reporting and analysis.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA preferred)
• Experience or knowledge in FP&A, including building and maintaining financial models
• Familiarity with financial reporting and month-end processes (accounting degree not required)
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage and interpret complex data
• Experience or exposure to board and investor reporting and financial presentations
• Knowledge of capital structure and fundraising processes is a plus
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with attention to detail
• Confidence to suggest improvements to systems and processes as the company continues to scale
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, review and analysis of OEGen cash flow actuals and forecasts, including capital call requests, cash flow reporting and reforecasting
• Regularly engage with department heads and other senior Group stakeholders on a range of financial matters
• Coordinate the annual budget process across OEGen assets
• Support Strategic Finance Lead in evaluating growth, returns and liquidity through the capital allocation process
• Monitor actual performance against plan, identifying key drivers of variance and working with the business to develop action plans
• Prepare and coordinate monthly financial reporting, quarterly Board packs and other strategic materials
• Review and challenge financial deliverables provided by External Asset Managers, including management accounts and cash flow forecasts
• Liaise with the external audit team, responding to queries and supporting year-end audit delivery
• Work closely with international subsidiaries to ensure consistent application of accounting policies
• Drive continuous improvement in financial analysis and reporting tools and processes
