Job summary

Sulzer is seeking a Head of Facilities Management to shape and lead a major transformation of FM across UK & Ireland. You will develop a strategic operating model, align divisions, and manage an outsourced partner to deliver compliant, high-value facilities services.

You will own governance, budget, and KPIs while guiding cross-functional stakeholders through change. Based in Leeds or Birmingham with regular UK travel, you will drive long-term asset lifecycle planning and performance

Qualifications

• Significant senior FM leadership experience in a complex, multi-site organisation.
• Experience of first-generation FM outsourcing, including transition and mobilisation.
• Experience uniting disparate teams and establishing consistent ways of working.
• Strong understanding of outsourced FM contracts, governance and performance management.
• Strategic view of how FM contributes to business performance.
• Knowledge of statutory compliance, building systems, and asset management.
• Experience building asset lifecycle plans and multi-year CAPEX plans.
• Strong commercial acumen managing large budgets and investments.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Collaborative, people-focused leadership and change navigation.
• IWFM membership or similar accreditation is advantageous.
• Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or industrial settings would help.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the UK & Ireland FM strategy.
• Line manage two Facilities Managers and coordinate cross-division stakeholders.
• Oversee transition to a first-generation outsourced FM model.
• Foster a true partnership with the outsourced FM provider.
• Align stakeholders across divisions, legal entities, and sites.
• Establish governance, KPIs, and reporting on compliance and performance.
• Lead statutory and regulatory FM compliance across the estate.
• Develop multi-year FM and asset lifecycle roadmaps.
• Push for planned, data-led maintenance over reactive approaches.
• Work with site leaders to identify estate optimisation opportunities.
• Ensure FM insights inform CAPEX and long-term planning.
• Oversee maintenance programmes across manufacturing, engineering, and offices.
• Manage FM budgets and capital expenditure with sound controls.
• Drive continuous improvement in the FM model.
