Job summary

Cumberland Council is seeking an Estates Surveyor to support its Corporate Assets, Fleet and Safety team and manage a £570m property portfolio across Cumbria. You will lead valuations, asset management, and investment opportunities to maximise income and service delivery.

The role focuses on advising senior managers, collaborating across teams and delivering high-quality reports, with an agile working approach and 37-hour weeks.

Qualifications

• MRICS membership or APC completion is required/preferred.
• Evidence of ongoing CPD compliance with RICS rules.
• Significant experience engaging consultants/contractors and managing property casework.
• Strong understanding of asset management planning & formal report writing.

Responsibilities

• Provide property expertise including red book valuations to guide management decisions.
• Execute disposal, acquisition and asset management casework for council ambitions.
• Conduct asset valuations for financial reporting and support Corporate Landlord model rollout.
