Job summary

Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing is seeking an Employee Relations Manager for a fixed-term 6-month contract based in Beeston. You will provide expert advice on complex employment matters, act as escalation point for the People team and oversee case management to ensure timely, policy-aligned outcomes.

Qualifications

• At least five years’ experience at a similar level managing complex employee relations in a customer-focused, multi-disciplinary organisation.
• A relevant HR qualification and CIPD membership.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and proven experience advising managers on complex, high-risk cases from start to finish.
• Experience managing ACAS and Employment Tribunal cases, working with external legal providers and trade unions.
• Experience supporting organisational change, restructures and TUPE activity.
• The confidence to coach managers on performance and conduct matters, handle difficult conversations and remain objective in conflict situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert, practical advice and guidance on complex employment matters across MTVH.
• Act as the technical escalation point for People Advisors and Assistants, helping deliver high-quality case management in line with policies, standards and UK law.
• Lead individual cases and collaborate with Heads of People, external legal providers and trade unions to identify risks and fair outcomes.
• Oversee the Case Management Tracker and regular reporting, using trends to recommend policy and process improvements.
• Coach managers and colleagues through complex and high-risk cases across the organisation.
