Job summary

Polaris Education - ISP Battle School in Battle, East Sussex seeks a Deputy Headteacher. The role is full-time, term-time only, with a basic salary up to £46,790.02 per year. The post requires QTS with SEND experience and leadership of staff to deliver high-quality SEND education.

Expect leadership in safeguarding, behaviour management, and curriculum development for Key Stages 3–4. The successful candidate will collaborate with professionals to secure pupil outcomes in a therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status required with SEND experience.
• Experience leading and managing teams within a therapeutic environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with staff, pupils and families.
• Experience delivering a high-quality curriculum for SEND pupils.
• Senior or middle leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead safeguarding practices and support vulnerable pupils and families.
• Provide strategic leadership for behaviour and attendance using data to monitor trends.
• Ensure high-quality teaching with inclusion and differentiated instruction for SEND.
• Assess, monitor, and report pupil progress and achievement.
• Prepare pupils for external examinations and contribute to curriculum development.
• Contribute to school policy development and whole-school improvement.
• Collaborate with staff and external professionals to secure best outcomes for pupils.
• Promote therapeutic approaches to behaviour and wellbeing.
• Support staff through coaching and professional development.
• Work with Polaris Community leaders to ensure ethos alignment.
