Job summary

Elsevier is seeking a Transformation Director (Data Science) to lead a multi-workstream change program, aligning senior stakeholders and delivering measurable business impact. You will govern delivery, ensure robust reporting, and shape investment through compelling business cases for the next wave of data initiatives.

You will apply deep data science understanding to challenge plans, manage risk, and drive coherent portfolio decisions in a complex, technical environment.

Qualifications

• Background in data science, ML or AI engineering with governance experience.
• Proven track record delivering complex transformation programmes.
• Experience presenting to senior/executive audiences with credibility.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain standards for programme management across transformation.
• Assess hygiene of workstreams and coach leads to close gaps early.
• Provide independent assurance on delivery confidence and risk.
• Shape business cases and align with data science objectives and OKRs.
• Run governance cadence and own senior-level reporting packs.
