Job summary

Elsevier is seeking a Transformation Director (Data Science) to lead a multi-workstream data science transformation, align senior stakeholders, and deliver measurable business value. You will govern delivery, shape business cases, and ensure coherent portfolio reporting for executive audiences.

The role requires deep data science background, strong programme governance experience, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical leaders.

Qualifications

• Data science, ML or AI engineering background, capable of understanding technical content for senior audiences.
• Extensive experience running portfolio or transformation governance in a complex, technical organisation.
• Proven ability to produce and present reporting to senior/executive audiences with credibility.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain standards for programme and project management across the transformation, including planning, RAID, dependency management, change control, benefits tracking.
• Run governance cadence end-to-end for committees: agendas, papers, decisions, actions, and follow-through.
• Own reporting materials up to senior leadership level with concise, accurate narratives and dashboards.
• Maintain a coherent view of the change portfolio, identify overlaps and gaps between workstreams.
• Support business cases with clear problem statements, options, costs, benefits and risks.
