Job description

About this job

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen within Education Commissioning to lead on post-16 education tracking, data and information governance on behalf of the Council. This includes taking responsibility for statutory Department for Education data returns, such as NEET and Unknown tracking, the September Guarantee of education in Year 12 and 13, and Year 11 activity survey, developing and implementing all relevant data sharing agreements and managing the Council’s NEET database. In addition, you will take an active role in supporting the Council’s wider agenda around NEET reduction and prevention, including tracking SEND young people up to the age of 25, supporting our post-16 provider forum and other key stakeholder groups through the provision of data, analysis and advice. You will support some of Education Commissioning’s wider work around data sharing, processing and analysis, ensuring effective compliance with GDPR at all times.

Special requirements for this post

You will have significant experience of working in the field of post-16 Education, whether within a school, college, training provider or Local Authority, with an up-to-date knowledge of Raising the Participation Age legislation and guidance. You will have advanced and applied knowledge of Excel and other associated software packages such as Ablebits, with the ability to think creatively around how they can be most effectively used to provide data that supports positive outcomes for young people at key education transition points. This includes developing and leading our Risk of NEET Indicator tool.

About you

You will be a driven individual with excellent written and oral communication skills, a meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. You will have the ability to process, interpret and summarise complex data and present to senior stakeholders, including Headteachers, as well as contribute to corporate performance reporting. As part of a high-performing team, you will be self-motivated, with the ability to work effectively with schools, colleges and other Council departments.
