Southampton City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Data Analyst to join the Data, Intelligence and Insight Team. The successful candidate will deliver comprehensive and integrated intelligence and data analysis, enabling the Council to make decisions and manage services based on a strong evidence base and a single version of the truth. The team handles highly complex analysis and modelling, including Post 16 intelligence.
The role involves supporting the Post 16 service with statutory data collections, developing detailed analysis, creating and quality assuring complex reports and dashboards from the Core+ database, and combining multiple data sources to identify needs, trends, and patterns that influence decision making across the city.
The ideal candidate will have a degree or professional qualification in a relevant area and significant experience in an analytical role, with strong numerical, research, and analytical skills. Knowledge of data management, information governance, reporting, visualization, mapping, statistical techniques, and familiarity with tools such as SQL, R, Power BI, GIS, and Microsoft Office are essential.
We seek an enthusiastic, proactive, and flexible individual with excellent communication, presentation, research, and analytical skills. There is also an opportunity to pursue relevant apprenticeships, such as an analytical or data management qualification.
