Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Commodity Buyer in Wallingford with responsibility for placing purchase orders and ensuring timely delivery of engines, mechanical parts, composites and specialist components.

Working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, you will monitor supplier deliveries, chase late orders and build strong supplier relationships to keep production running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Experience in buying, procurement or supply chain in manufacturing or engineering.
• Experience using SAP ERP system.
• Proficient with Excel.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read technical drawings and product information.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Confident and assertive when dealing with suppliers.
• Detail-oriented with an analytical approach.
• Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• A good problem solver who remains calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Place purchase orders to ensure materials are available when needed.
• Monitor supplier deliveries and ensure materials arrive on time.
• Chase suppliers when orders are late.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues.
• Keep supplier information and purchase orders up to date on the ERP system.
• Maintain accurate delivery dates and purchasing information on SAP.
• Work closely with the Supply Chain and Production teams.
• Read and understand technical drawings and product information.
• Identify and solve supply and delivery issues.
• Support the wider team with other duties when required.
