Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Commodity Buyer in Wallingford with responsibility for placing purchase orders and ensuring timely delivery of engines, mechanical parts, composites and specialist components.

Working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, you will monitor supplier deliveries, chase late orders and build strong supplier relationships to keep production running smoothly.

Job description

Based in Wallingford, this full-time Commodity Buyer position offers a salary between £40,000 and £45,000 per annum.

Working 40 hours weekly, Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm, you will oversee a portfolio of critical suppliers.

Your core duty involves placing purchase orders and guaranteeing that engines, mechanical parts, composites, and specialist components reach production without delay.

You will monitor delivery schedules, proactively chase late orders, and cultivate robust supplier relationships.

Performance tracking falls within your remit, alongside resolving supply issues through close collaboration with internal teams.

This role suits a procurement professional with strong negotiation skills and a methodical approach to maintaining seamless manufacturing operations.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in buying, procurement or supply chain, ideally within manufacturing or engineering.
• Experience working with suppliers and managing purchase orders.
• Experience using an ERP system, ideally SAP.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to understand technical drawings and technical information.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
