Job summary

Octagon Group is seeking a Commodity Buyer in Wallingford, South Oxfordshire, on-site, to support a leading engineering and manufacturing business. You will manage a specialist commodity group, procuring materials, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring on-time delivery to support production.

You will work closely with engineering, planning and production teams to drive supplier performance and continuous improvement, raise POs, and maintain ERP data, including SAP updates, while

Qualifications

• Previous buying/purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing suppliers and procurement activities.
• ERP experience (SAP desirable).
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering data.
• Experience within engines & mechanical components, composites, or marine components.

Responsibilities

• Raise purchase orders in line with production and business requirements.
• Ensure materials are delivered on time to support manufacturing demand.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive improvements where required.
• Maintain accurate supplier information and purchase order data within the ERP system.
• Keep delivery dates up to date within SAP.
• Work collaboratively with engineering, planning and production teams.
• Support cost-effective purchasing strategies across your commodity area.
