Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Commercial Manager to work with Energy on the Yorkshire Green Project in Leeds/York. The role focuses on managing all commercial aspects, monitoring cost and value, and leading procurement and risk management to maximise project margins.

The ideal candidate is MRICS qualified with strong civil engineering/commercial experience and expert knowledge of NEC contracts. You will collaborate with the Project Director to drive programme controls and commercial performance.

Qualifications

• Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) or equivalent.
• Commercially astute with substantial experience in civil engineering/construction.
• Expert knowledge of standard forms of contract such as NEC.
• Understanding of programming techniques and project controls.

Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial aspects of the project and liaise with stakeholders.
• Monthly cost and value reconciliation reviews.
• Manage contract changes, variations, and the early warning process.
• In conjunction with the Project Director, manage the project risk register and ensure mitigation measures are implemented.
• Support the project commercial team on a daily basis.
• Oversee project procurement, ensuring commercial advantageous procurement for the business.
• Maximise cash position, including WIP control and cash flow planning.
• Manage contractor’s cost weekly and relay cost performance to the construction team.
• Assist in management of the programme with the Project Director and Planning Manager.
• Continually seek to improve project performance commercially, including margin improvement and risk mitigation.
• Manage project controls including value, cost, production and supply chain.
