Job summary

Education Authority in Northern Ireland is seeking an Area Youth Worker 2 (Specialism) for the PEACEPLUS program in Ards & North Down. You will oversee youth work programmes, engage with communities, and deliver high-quality activities for young people.

You will manage staff, contribute to area planning, ensure safeguarding and alignment with NI Youth Work Curriculum, and work with partners to achieve outcomes.

Qualifications

• Be a qualified Youth Worker in accordance with the JNC Report for Youth Workers, Paragraph 5.
• Have a minimum of one year’s post qualifying experience managing a Youth Centre or Youth Project.
• Have a minimum of one year’s experience managing youth work staff.
• Experience of leading practice that improves the specialism outlined in the job title.
• Demonstrable working knowledge of information technology systems to include Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Manage a range of youth work programmes across the designated area.
• Develop annual action plans and contribute to area and strategic plans for Youth Service.
• Ensure active participation of young people in programmes and area management.
• Provide leadership, supervision and support to staff and volunteers.
• Develop partnerships with agencies to expand services in the area.
• Oversee staff development, training and performance within the area.
