Job summary

The Education Authority in Northern Ireland is seeking an Area Youth Worker 2 to oversee and develop youth work programmes across the designated area, aligning with EA policies and Youth Service curriculum. You will lead staff and volunteers, build partnerships with agencies, engage young people in planning and evaluation, and drive residential and outdoor education components within the program.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with young people to assess needs and provide a planned activities programme.
• Develop an Annual Action Plan and contribute to the Area Plan and Youth Service strategy.
• Ensure active participation of young people in programmes and area project management.
• Work with the Advisory Committee and line manager to achieve objectives through implementation, monitoring and self-evaluation.
• Establish contact with and advocate for young people; listen, advise and support.
• Encourage and participate in residential and outdoor education elements.
• Promote and develop inter-community activities.
• Be responsible to the line manager for management, administration and finances of the Area Project.
• Engage in fundraising related to the approved programme.
• Provide substantial support to youth groups and organisations in the area.
• Engage in outreach or detached youth work within the designated area.
