BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of road maintenance and management services, proudly responsible for the upkeep and enhancement of the country’s vital trunk road network — including bridges and key infrastructure — across some of the most scenic and challenging terrain in the UK.

Our Northwest Trunk Road Unit spans over 1,422km of roadways, stretching from the rugged beauty of Thurso and Wick in the far north, down to the coastal charm of Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute. It connects communities from Uig on the Isle of Skye to the historic cities of Perth and Stirling, offering a unique opportunity to work across a landscape that’s as diverse as it is inspiring.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Stores Person to join our team on a full-time basis at our Head Office in Perth.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, as a Stores Person, you will play a vital role in supporting operational activities by ensuring the effective management, control and distribution of materials and equipment.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing the receipt, identification, storage and issue of materials held at the depot.
  • Monitoring stock levels and ensuring the timely management and replenishment of all materials and consumables.
  • Verifying purchased products and materials against required specifications.
  • Maintaining accurate electronic records and updating of system documentation.
  • Supporting the development and continual improvement of the computerised stock management system.
  • Preparation and issue of materials and equipment to support operational teams.
  • Providing support to operational and business processes as required.
  • Maintenance and control of calibration equipment to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
  • Management and monitoring of LOLER and PUWER equipment records and inspections.
  • Reporting of non-conformances using BEAR Scotland’s internal reporting system.
  • Carrying out of minor repairs and maintenance to equipment where appropriate.
  • Weekly liaison with waste contractors to coordinate the collection and disposal of general and hazardous waste.

  • Good IT skills with the ability to use stock management and business systems effectively.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to liaise with colleagues, suppliers and contractors.
  • A valid Forklift Truck (FLT) qualification/licence – advantageous
