Job summary

Escape Recruitment is recruiting a Stores Operative on behalf of an established manufacturing business in Livingston. The role combines goods receiving, stock control, forklift operation and administration to ensure production teams have the materials they need.

You will work with the Stores team to receive deliveries, check for damage, record movements, locate and label stock, and support purchasing and safety procedures in a busy, quality‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• Relevant stores, warehouse or stock control experience.
• A relevant forklift qualification.
• Training in the safe handling of chemicals and dangerous goods.
• Confidence using computerised stock systems and completing administration.
• Good attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
• Clear communication skills and a helpful approach.
• The ability to organise tasks, use initiative and work well within a team.
• A strong commitment to safe working practices.
• Experience working within a manufacturing environment and following quality and environmental procedures would be particularly useful.

Responsibilities

• Receiving deliveries and checking goods for damage, discrepancies and accuracy.
• Recording goods received and stock movements on a computerised stock control system.
• Locating, storing and labelling materials so they can be retrieved easily.
• Picking and issuing materials to departments across the site.
• Managing stock rotation and monitoring material availability.
• Operating a forklift truck and carrying out daily manual handling tasks.
• Handling chemicals and dangerous goods in line with training and safety procedures.
• Reporting and separating damaged or rejected materials.
• Supporting the Stores and Purchasing teams with administration.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
