Job summary

FryerMiles Recruitment is seeking a Storage Engineer to support secure storage and backup platforms in Stevenage. The role requires current DV/SC clearance and will involve Windows, Linux, VMware and NetApp administration within a Defence-grade enterprise environment.

You will manage storage provisioning, perform migrations and upgrades, and maintain runbooks and documentation while ensuring business continuity and data integrity. This is a 6-month contract with possible extension.

Qualifications

• DV/SC clearance, or active clearance with eligibility for DV/SC
• Experience in defence/government or highly secure environments
• Hands-on administration of enterprise storage solutions (NetApp)
• Experience with Windows and Linux servers and VMware environments
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills in large, complex IT environments

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and support enterprise storage infrastructure.

FryerMiles Recruitment is working with a major UK Defence Prime to recruit an experienced Storage Engineer to support critical infrastructure across a secure, enterprise scale environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly skilled team responsible for the delivery, maintenance and optimisation of secure storage and backup platforms supporting mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and support enterprise storage infrastructure.
• Manage and optimise NetApp storage platforms across secure environments.
• Support enterprise backup and recovery solutions, ensuring business continuity and data integrity.
• Provide support across both Windows and Linux server environments. Support virtualised infrastructure, including VMware platforms.
• Monitor storage capacity, performance and availability, identifying opportunities for optimisation.
• Perform storage provisioning, migrations, upgrades and lifecycle management activities.
• Investigate and resolve storage, backup and infrastructure-related incidents.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, procedures and operational runbooks.
• Work closely with infrastructure, platform and project teams to deliver secure technical solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Experience within Defence, Government or other highly secure environments.
• Strong experience supporting enterprise storage environments.
• Hands-on administration of NetApp storage solutions.
• Experience with enterprise backup technologies and disaster recovery processes.
• Good knowledge of both Windows and Linux server environments.
• Experience supporting VMware virtualised infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across enterprise infrastructure.
• Experience working within large, complex IT environments.

Desirable Skills

• Experience within Defence, Government or other highly secure environments.
• Knowledge of storage performance tuning, replication and data protection technologies.
• Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring and automation tools.

Essential Requirements

• Current SC or DV Clearance (DV highly desirable).
• Eligibility to work onsite in Stevenage.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary technical teams.
