Job summary

Carrington West is recruiting an experienced Building Surveyor (Stock Conditions) for a Local Authority in the West Midlands on an initial 3-month contract.

You will undertake stock condition surveys, assess building defects and help with maintenance, asset management and compliance with housing standards and health and safety requirements.

The role requires strong surveying experience in local authority or social housing and excellent reporting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake stock condition surveys across residential properties.
• Assess building conditions and identify defects needing repairs or improvements.

• Ensure properties meet housing standards and safety requirements.
• Prepare detailed survey reports, specifications and remedial recommendations.
• Assist the Council in fulfilling statutory landlord responsibilities.

Contract: 3 Months (Initial Contract)

Rate: £28.14 per hour (Umbrella)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Building Surveyor (Stock Conditions) to join a Local Authority in the West Midlands on an initial 3-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to support the maintenance, improvement and long-term management of the Council's housing stock and wider property portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake comprehensive stock condition surveys across residential properties.
• Assess building conditions, identify defects and recommend necessary repairs and improvements.
• Deliver a range of building surveying and project management duties.
• Support planned maintenance programmes and asset management strategies.
• Ensure properties meet relevant housing standards, health and safety requirements and current legislation.
• Prepare detailed survey reports, specifications and recommendations for remedial works.
• Support the Council in fulfilling its statutory responsibilities as a landlord.

Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience in building surveying within a Local Authority or social housing environment.
• Strong knowledge of stock condition surveys, building defects and property maintenance.
• Good understanding of housing legislation and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication, reporting and organisational skills.
