Job description

Fixed Term Contract until August 2026, Full Time

Home Based, covering the South East with properties in Basingstoke and Deane, Cherwell, Eastbourne, Reading, Southampton, Waverly, Woking, Vale of White Horse, and Mole Valley.

Stonewater’s vision is to ensure everyone has the opportunity to have a place they can call home. Stock condition surveys are essential for delivering this vision and ensuring our homes are safe, warm, and secure. To support this, Stonewater is establishing a new, national stock condition team to lead the assessment of its properties.

This is an exciting opportunity for housing and property professionals to join a new team, setting standards for property data collection and informing future investment decisions over the next 30 years.

Working independently, you will deliver stock condition surveys across a defined geographical area, visiting residents and collecting accurate data on their homes. You will liaise with residents, leaseholders, housing management, customer services, and other agencies to ensure homes and communal areas are safe, warm, and secure, recording and addressing hazards, safety concerns, and repairs identified during surveys.

You will contribute to the continuous improvement of Stonewater’s stock condition strategies, accurately updating our housing stock information to support programming and compliance with the Decent Homes Standard. Ongoing professional development is important, and you will stay informed about relevant regulations, standards, and legislation related to housing and construction.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold an HNC level (or equivalent) qualification in construction, housing, management, or property.
  • Have proven knowledge of the Decent Homes Standard, component lifecycles, HHSRS Rating system, and domestic building construction methods and faults.
  • Possess strong knowledge of building components, common issues, hazards, and the ability to diagnose and remedy defects.
  • Be capable of achieving targets, prioritising, planning, and managing workload effectively.
  • Be committed to staying updated on housing legislation and construction methods, contributing to service improvements.
  • Handle challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills, able to communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Possess strong administrative and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Housing Management systems.

Appointment is subject to satisfactory references and valid Right to Work documentation.
