Job summary

1000scholars in Cardiff, United Kingdom, seeks a Subject Lead to coordinate academic provision and deliver progression targets within the Centre. You will ensure quality assurance, curriculum innovation, and strong collaboration with the University and network partners.

Reporting to the Head of STEM, you will manage staff resources, contribute to annual monitoring, and teach up to 20 hours weekly while supporting safeguarding and international student welfare considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree and post graduate qualification in a relevant subject.
• Experience of providing feedback to another person about their performance, which achieved a positive improvement.
• Experience of HR duties, such as delivering training and taking part in the recruitment process.
• Ability to delegate activities, set deadlines and oversee their completion to meet deadlines.
• Experience of successfully leading internal communication, including disseminating complex messages or changes.
• Experience of working with international students and welfare/cultural issues.
• Experience of data management and quality assurance.
• Experience of working across and with external partners and multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Communicate our vision to drive forward continuous improvement and enable the Centre to achieve aspirational targets for student outcomes.
• Communicate the development of the academic partnership with the host university and articulation routes.
• Oversee programme pathways to meet strategic aims of the Centre as a high‑quality pathway to UK HE.
• Attend and contribute to University partnership Boards; report through governance structures.
• Identify strengths/weaknesses and take actions to enhance delivery with subject leads and senior team.
• Provide efficient academic management and co‑ordination of staff resources across teams.
• Contribute to the College’s QA framework and lead Annual Monitoring Report sections.
• Contribute to data analysis to monitor progression targets and implement remedial actions where needed.
• Teach up to 20 hours per week across modules within the pathway.
• Work to integrate subject, academic skills and language development in the programme.
• Oversee development/maintenance of the Centre’s VLE and ensure safeguarding responsibilities are met.
• Ensure Centre compliance with UKVI regulations in register completions and attendance, and deputise for senior leaders when needed.
