Involve Recruitment seeks a skilled steelwork installation supervisor to lead on-site erection of structural steel and metalwork across construction sites in the Cardiff area. You will oversee the installation team, ensure safety, read drawings, and coordinate with other trades.

A background in welding/fabrication and relevant cards (CSCS, IPAF) is required or in progress. The role includes using Hilti tools and provides a company van; strong organisational and safety focus will be essential for

Qualifications

• Proven experience welding and fabrication of steel structures.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Basic maths skills for measurements and calculations during assembly.
• Certifications or training in welding or steel erection preferred.
• CSCS card required.
• IPAF card required.
• Experience with manual handling, abrasive wheels and working at height; training available.
• Good organisational skills to maintain safety and quality on site.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a skilled steelwork installation supervisor to join our clients team. The successful candidate will be responsible for organising, erecting and supervising the installation of structural steelwork and other metal works such as staircases and secondary steelwork across various construction sites. This role requires a strong understanding of structural installation and the hands on supervison of an installation team. The role is provided with a fleet van complete with the latest Hilti power tools.

Responsibilities

• Erecting steel frameworks, beams, and structural components on-site
• AP ticket preferred, if not currently held, willing to undergo AP course
• Cutting, welding and assembling steel structures according to technical drawings
• Using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and efficiently
• Troubleshoot and execute remedies on site
• Fabrication of metal components for structural or decorative purposes
• Reading technical drawings to determine specifications and measurements
• Supervision and responsibility of the installation of steel structures ensuring alignment and stability
• Performing routine inspections to identify potential issues or safety hazards
• Maintaining a clean and organised work environment to promote safety standards

Requirements

• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret technical drawings
• Basic maths skills for measurements and calculations during assembly processes
• Experience with assembly of structural components in construction or manufacturing settingsAbility to work at heights and in physically demanding environments
• Relevant certifications or training in welding or steel erection
• CSCS card
• IPAF Card
• Skills in manual handling, abrasive wheels & working at height - certification training can be provided for these
• Good organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure safety and quality standards are met
