Marks & Spencer is seeking a senior software engineer to join the Warehouse Platform team in London, shaping core warehouse technology across WMS and related platforms. You will drive technical direction, deliver scalable solutions, and mentor engineers while improving reliability and observability.

The role emphasizes strong coding practices, collaboration with architecture and product teams, and a focus on security, performance, and continuous improvement in a modern engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in full-stack engineering delivering scalable UI, backend systems and enterprise integrations.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, patterns and best practices.
• Experience with automated testing and performance testing across unit, integration and end-to-end layers.
• Experience embedding security and operational excellence across the SDLC (DevSecOps).
• Technical expertise across Java, SQL, JavaScript and modern CI/CD tooling.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and debug high-quality software solutions with engineering best practices.
• Provide technical leadership on complex initiatives aligning with strategy and standards.
• Lead design and implementation of scalable software and third-party integrations with architecture teams.
• Conduct code reviews ensuring maintainability, tests, performance and quality.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to design effective scalable technology solutions.
• Mentor engineers and grow engineering capability across teams.
• Improve operations through monitoring, incident management and continual improvements.
