Job summary

Marks and Spencer's Software Engineering team in the UK is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead cross-functional delivery across Supply Chain & Logistics. You’ll shape technical strategy, drive architectural excellence, and mentor senior engineers to deliver robust, scalable systems.

This role partners with product leadership to align technology with business goals, champions DevOps and CI/CD, and promotes clean code, security, and reliability across multiple warehouses.

Qualifications

• Strong track record leading senior engineers and technical customers to outcomes.
• Excellent communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience shaping technology strategy and product investment decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical excellence from design to operations and launch of core product features or programmes.
• Drive technical direction and influence technology and product investments; shape team setup.
• Champion Communities of Practice and establish engineering excellence at M&S.
• Lead by example through contributions to the engineering ecosystem and promote clean code and design patterns.
• Advocate forDevOps, CI/CD and operational excellence across the lifecycle.
• Partner with engineering, technology and product leadership to align strategies and delivery.
