Job summary

Wayve is seeking a Staff Robotics Engineer, 3D Sensing to lead the technical development of LiDAR and cross-sensor 3D sensing. You will own calibration, synchronization and alignment across LiDARs, cameras and other sensors to enable accurate 3D perception data for development and evaluation.

This senior IC role shapes architecture and roadmaps, tackles challenges like time synchronisation and LiDAR sweep effects, and mentors other engineers while collaborating across Wayve.

Qualifications

• Significant experience with LiDAR, cameras and 3D sensor data.
• Calibration and registration of LiDAR-to-camera systems.
• Strong understanding of 3D geometry, state estimation and optimization.
• Experience with sensor timing and motion effects such as synchronization and rolling shutter.
• Proficient in C++ and/or Python for production deployment.
• Ability to define evaluation methods and metrics for 3D sensing quality.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the architecture and roadmap for Wayve’s 3D sensing capabilities.
• Lead LiDAR calibration and LiDAR-to-camera registration methods.
• Develop temporal alignment and motion compensation techniques.
• Establish evaluation methodologies and productionise robust 3D sensing systems.
• Collaborate with engineering and research teams and mentor other engineers.
