Job summary

tem is hiring a Staff Software Engineer, Pricing to build and manage the Pricing API behind RED, tem's modern utility product. The role focuses on backend and data-heavy work with a quant-like flavour, where correctness is critical and price explanations matter.

You will shape the Pricing API, move pricing logic into one service, and design detection/alerting to catch bad prices before customers are affected. Remote-first with flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Deep production backend Python: APIs at scale, reliable performance and correctness.
• Led a significant decoupling or migration of a live system without breaking dependencies.
• Strong FastAPI and SQL; data/analytics-heavy systems where numbers matter.

Responsibilities

• Build and iterate the Pricing API to be fast, correct, and ready for third parties.
• Untangle pricing logic into its own service with clear boundaries.
• Own reliability: detect pricing errors and explain every price we can’t give.
• Raise engineering standards through design reviews and shared practices.
• Be the go-to engineer during live pricing incidents and drive fixes.
