DeepL is a global AI company building secure, intelligent solutions. We seek a Platform Engineer to own and operate production-grade Kubernetes clusters across cloud and on-prem infrastructures, driving a unified, hybrid platform that supports research and product teams.

You will shape architecture, lead incidents, and mentor engineers while advancing IaC standards and observability to ensure reliable, scalable systems across AWS and on‑prem environments.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, building and operating Kubernetes clusters at scale.
• Strong experience with Terraform and GitOps tooling (ArgoCD) in production.
• Proven ability to own architecture decisions across multiple teams and drive reliability.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the reliability, capacity and cost efficiency of DeepL's hybrid compute infrastructure.
• Shape platform architecture and commit to technical positions that benefit the product and research teams.
• Design, build and operate production-grade Kubernetes clusters across cloud and on‑prem infrastructure.
• Drive the evolution of the hybrid model to unify workloads across on‑prem and cloud services, including AWS.
• Define infrastructure-as-code standards and strengthen observability and security across the track.
• Mentor engineers across the infrastructure track to raise the technical bar and improve maintainability.
• Build consensus across teams and translate it into shipped platform improvements.
• Lead incident response for hybrid infrastructure and sustain an effective on-call rotation.
