Job summary

DeepL is hiring for a senior backend engineering role focused on Identity and Access Management. You will own end-to-end delivery of identity services, influence architecture, and balance features with reliability at high scale.

The team operates in a fast-moving, maturing environment with hybrid work and a strong emphasis on cloud-native infrastructure such as EKS, Aurora, and Redis. This role suits hands-on leaders who mentor others and drive robust platforms.

Qualifications

• Production grade backend engineering at staff level with ownership across teams.
• Strong track record delivering design through deployment and operation.
• Hands-on approach to operational and incident work.
• Experience with reliable, high throughput services and cloud native infra.

Responsibilities

• Raise the engineering bar through design review, mentoring, and standards.
• Own delivery of identity services end to end from design to operations.
• Lead responses to urgent customer and operational incidents and prevent recurrence.
• Balance feature delivery with reliability and availability of core infrastructure.
• Set technical direction and trade-offs for identity domain reliability and security.
• Move identity platform toward scalable, robust infrastructure.
• Shape long-term identity roadmap including SSO, SCIM, OIDC on cloud infra.
