Job summary

Deliveroo is seeking a Staff Engineer for Dev Environments within the Foundations group. You will own the technical direction for local and remote dev flows, including devcontainers, IDE backends, and AI-ready sandboxes across thousands of engineers.

You’ll set roadmaps, unblock cross-team issues, and mentor senior engineers while partnering with leadership to translate complex problems into concrete strategies.

Qualifications

• Track record of shipping production systems and leading cross-team initiatives with group level impact.
• Hands-on fluency with Go, Python, TypeScript and Terraform.
• Experience with Kubernetes multi-tenant workloads or lightweight VM/sandbox tech.
• Working knowledge of cloud networking and secure cross-boundary routing.
• Experience integrating LLM/AI tooling into developer workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience partnering with engineering teams that consume platform services.

Responsibilities

• Define the architecture for thousands of engineers across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo for local and remote dev flows.
• Build monorepo dev tooling at scale and standardise tooling across the umbrella.
• Provision production-shaped environments in seconds with reliable state sync.
• Invent new approaches and design for AI agents as first-class consumers of the environment.
• Support agents launched from IDE, CLI, or Slack with no laptop required for review and ship.
• Align teams, mentor engineers, and lead interview processes for senior hires.
