Zusammenfassung

Pleo is seeking a Staff Engineer to join the Business Spend segment. You will own architecture, drive supplier data migration, and improve payment flow reliability, collaborating with multiple teams across Product, Design and Compliance to deliver scalable spend management services.

You will work in a distributed, cross‑border setup with a focus on building observable, resilient systems in AWS/Kotlin/Java, with a frontend stack of TypeScript/React.

Qualifikationen

• Strong verbal communication, even with engineers who don't share a first language.
• Experience as the technical lead for a team spread across several countries and time zones.
• Deep backend engineering experience in a modern statically typed language such as Java, Kotlin or TypeScript, at production scale.
• Track record of shipping inside a legacy system being dismantled and migrating to target state.
• Ability to steer technical direction across teams you don't own via influence and written docs.
• Background in payments, fintech, accounts payable, ERP or B2B SaaS.
• Experience with event‑driven systems and Kafka, with observability built into what you ship.

Aufgaben

• Partner with Engineering Manager to own and be accountable for the whole architecture of Business Spend.
• Own significant parts of supplier data migration, moving logic out of legacy service per customer.
• Improve reliability of invoice payment flows where failures impact customers.
• Translate new vendor data model into working software across cards, invoices, and accounting.
• Help 3 teams make consistent technical decisions via design docs, code reviews, and architecture forum.
• Raise the people around you through pairing, reviews, and clear write‑ups.
