Job summary

Pleo is hiring an Staff Applied AI Engineer to shape AI-powered product features using its rich spend data. You will work with engineers, data scientists and product teams to move ideas from prototype to production, delivering value to 40,000+ customers.

You’ll own evaluation, monitoring and safe deployment of AI features, while aligning with privacy, security and performance requirements across the stack.

Qualifications

• Proven experience shipping GenAI features into production, ideally multi-step agents in user-facing products.
• Translate complex business challenges into scalable AI solutions for production use.
• Experience with evaluation, observability, and monitoring of LLM systems in production.
• Strong understanding of privacy and security in LLM applications.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship multiple AI-powered product features across agentic workflows and spend intelligence.
• Provide input on trade-offs (quality vs latency/cost, build vs buy) and avoid hype-driven decisions.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Engineering and stakeholders to define what is worth building.
• Own evaluation, drift tracking, and operationalization of AI features in production.
• Partner with GenAI Core platform to validate platform choices in production.
• Establish standards for AI feature delivery including evaluation strategy and safe practices.
• Upskill the team through mentorship and lightweight playbooks.
