Job summary

Relay is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to own the Demand Forecasting roadmap, steer the modelling direction, and ensure the forecast drives operational planning across sortation, middle mile, and last mile. You will work hands-on on the most challenging forecasting problems and set validation standards for the team, collaborating with ML engineers and analysts.

You will lead model development for integrated forecasts by area and horizon, including inbound international volume and parcel

Qualifications

• 8+ years in a data science or quantitative modelling role.
• Experience building models that inform operational or commercial decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own the integrated forecast end to end.
• Build the hardest models in the area (long-horizon forecast, inbound international volume, parcel size/weight).
• Set the methodology and validation standards for Demand Forecasting.
• Raise the technical bar and mentor teammates without line management.
• Define the forecast interfaces to demand-management, routing and planning.
• Learn operational processes your models serve and identify gaps.
• Own production quality across the estate with monitoring and drift detection.
• Collaborate with Finance to link forecasts to longer-range projections.
• Quantify the impact of model error on cost per parcel.
